OXFORD COMMUNITY ACTION CUP
We are finally able to share with you two pieces of very, very exciting news. First of all: OCA Cup football tournament.
Next Sunday, 6 June, we are hosting Oxford’s most diverse football tournament, OCA Cup. Ten teams with players from over 25 nationalities are competing for glory. Will last year’s winner, the local Black Lives Matter team be able to defend their trophy? Or will the runners-ups, the London-based Hilltop team be able to get revenge? Or perhaps one of the other eight teams will emerge victorious? Come and find out!
Everyone is invited! Spectators will be allowed throughout the day. We kick off at 10.00 am. We particularly invite you to join us from 6-7 pm for the final and closing ceremony on the main pitch of the the Oxford City FC stadium. With a capacity of 2,000 spectators, social distanced viewing has never been easier.
We are also still looking for volunteers to help us run the event. If you can help, please get in touch with us at 07412537961 (Hassan) / 07475180061 (Mujahid). Any help will be much appreciated.
Oxford Community Action Cup is a charity tournament. Our wonderful sponsors help us not only cover the costs of pitch and referee hire, but also make a big contributions to schools for Orphan Girls in Somalia. We can’t wait to introduce you to the amazing individuals and organisations whose financial contributions have made this possible.
Last, but definitely not least: We ask all participating in the event to respect social distance guidelines. We cannot overemphasize how important that is. Our struggle against Covid-19 continues with cases rising again across the UK for the first time in weeks. Only if we work as a community, putting everyone’s safety first, will we succeed at eliminating the virus. Speaking of Covid-19, we have an amazing announcement to make related to the tournament, quite possibly one of our proudest achievements yet….
